Referee Entry Level Course March 26 and 27, 2011Wish to have a summer job? Work as much or as little as you want? You set the days you want to work? Then become a soccer referee and officiate games in and around Brantford. Before you register. please ensure you understand the commitment and minimum qualifications to become a referee.ANY individual wishing to obtain their Entry Level Referee designation in 2011 must:

Q. What time do the classes start? A. Classes start at 9am sharp to 5:00pm. Please arrive at 8:45am on Saturday to compete registration details
Q. What supplies do I need to bring? A. Bring your pre-course booklet you received, pen and paper and lunch. On March 27 ensure you are wearing running shoes as a portion of the class will be in the gym. Bottled water will be supplied.
Q. Is there a test? A. Yes, there is a written test on March 27, the results will be provided by email 1 - 2 weeks following the course.
Q. If I pass, what soccer games can I referee? A. As a qualified referee, you will be able to referee in the middle any game two years your junior. So if you are 14, you can referee up to the age of 12 as a middle referee or be an assistant
Q. Do I need a uniform? A. Yes, Full referee kits will be available at the course on March 26, 2011 - cash or cheque payable to OSRA Brant Referees. Cost is approximately $50 and includes official socks, shorts, shirt, whistle, flags and referee wallet. It is mandatory to have a black referee uniform to officiate the games.
Q. Is there any other equipment I need? A. Yes, you must have a watch or stop watch to officiate the game and it is permissible to wear soccer cleats for footwear.
Q. How much do I get paid for officiating games? A. Payment depends on the age of the kids playing. Generally, youth referees earn between $18 - $25 per game.
Q. How do I get paid? A. All referees are paid each month. You are responsible for submitting a summary of the games you officiated to the Brantford Referee Branch meeting held monthly. Cheques are issued one week later. As well, some games will receive payment in cash at the field
